Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with Jorge Kassis, our National Strategic Sales Manager, to discuss how Border Express meets the unique needs of various industries and businesses.

When asked about his approach to understanding the logistics needs of different industries, Jorge emphasised the importance of research and analysis. “We differentiate ourselves by thoroughly researching and consulting with potential new customers. Understanding their challenges, what’s working well, and identifying gaps where we can add value is crucial. This is done through tailored, customised solutions, and our role is to identify those.”
Custom solutions for specific clients
Jorge shared an example of how Border Express tailors’ solutions for specific clients. “One of the best things about working at BEX is that we tailor all our solutions to each customer. For instance, we have a customer who needed specific delivery requirements and split deliveries to stores. We were able to work with their store replenishment model and add operational implants on-site to meet their unique needs.”
Collaborating across departments
Collaboration is key at Border Express. Jorge highlighted the importance of working with various departments to create tailored solutions. “Referencing our core value, BE One, we collaborate with other departments, embodying the whole sales process. We engage key stakeholders from our Executive Leadership Team, operations, and safety to ensure they feel connected to the customer and the freight moving through our network.”
Leveraging technology
Technology plays a significant role in developing and implementing custom logistics solutions. “Staying up to date with the best-in-class dashboards, analytics, and IT solutions is essential. We offer direct integration with various software programs and dispatch systems, making medium and larger businesses faster and more agile. For example, having our systems talk directly to theirs allows for automation and tracking, which is crucial for data integrity and sharing capabilities.”
Incorporating client feedback
Gathering and incorporating client feedback is integral to our customisation process. “Our teams are highly trained to understand potential customers through research and direct engagement. We visit client operations, gather feedback, and educate them on our capabilities. This hands-on approach helps us identify gaps and build solutions that address their pain points.”
Maintaining strong communication
Maintaining strong communication and collaboration with clients is vital during the development and implementation of custom solutions. “Our BD professionals stay extremely close to prospective customers, ensuring a smooth transition in the sales process. From discovery calls to regular follow-ups and data analysis, we work through the process until the customer is onboarded. Post-sale, we have regular contact and conduct monthly and quarterly business review meetings, supplemented by NPS surveys for continuous improvement.”
Motivating the team
Motivating and equipping our team to deliver high-quality solutions is a priority at Border Express. “We invest a lot of time in training and onboarding, taking our people on the journey of our success story. Future demand for custom solutions
Looking ahead, Jorge foresees an evolving demand for custom logistics solutions. “We need to double down on what we’re good at – being an all-encompassing bulk and parcel carrier. The demand for information on what good looks like and what’s available is growing. Being acquired by FMH Group gives us more options to value-add for BEX, allowing us to provide comprehensive custom solutions.”
